A Podcast with Marisa Castellano and Kirsten Sundell

Marisa Castellano (pictured) and Kirsten Sundell, principal investigators of Rigorous Tests of Student Outcomes in CTE Programs of Study, speak in this podcast about their project, which is evaluating the implementation of POS/career pathways, as mandated by Perkins IV. This study measures the impact of POS/career pathways on student academic and technical achievement. The study has two parts: a set of randomized controlled trials in one large district and a rigorous quasi-experimental study in another large district. The measures of effectiveness of POS include: (a) academic achievement; (b) technical skills achievement; (c) high school completion; (d) placement in postsecondary education, work, or the military; (e) program participation and completion by nontraditional students; and (f) program participation and completion by students from special populations as defined by Perkins IV.
