The NRCCTE’s Technical Assistance (TA) Academy for 2008-2010 addressed green-focused programs of study (POS). Five states—Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, Ohio, and Oregon—were selected to participate in the process. Through a combination of facilitated in-state meetings and a national TA Academy, each state developed an action plan to develop a model green-focused POS as well as an implementation process for that POS. Each state convened a team representing state secondary and postsecondary CTE representatives, secondary and postsecondary educators and administrators, and green industry representatives. In February 2010, each state brought an 8-12 person team to Washington, DC, for a three-day TA Academy. The Academy combined individual presentations, small group discussions with content experts, and facilitated team breakout sessions. Five POS content experts and four green-CTE and industry experts worked with the state teams during the facilitated breakout sessions to develop an action plan that states can use in developing their model green-focused POS system. States also had access to POS and green-content experts who worked with the state teams during the project.
