Abstract:

This webcast describes the role of counseling in postsecondary institutions, especially community colleges. As more high school graduates and adults choose to attend community colleges to advance their education and improve their workplace skills, community colleges face the challenge of providing effective and sufficient counseling services to help those students meet their current and future needs. Panelists describe the various kinds of counseling services offered in today's community colleges, the National Council on Student Development's recommendations regarding the role of counseling in community colleges, and the evolving role of counseling in community colleges.
